Diamond Shield Fortifier
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Diamond Shield Fortifier (DSF)?
DSF is the only primary additive in the seal coating industry that offers Active Cure, Rheology and
Viscosity Modification.
What is Active Cure Technology?
Active Cure Technology is a unique chemical composition within DSF that creates its’ own heat at a
molecular level within the seal coat film that causes moisture to rapidly expel from the bottom up of
the emulsion.
Is DSF a quick dry additive?
No. DSF is the “Quick Drive” all in one additive. DSF accelerates cure time chemically. All other
additives still require the suns passive curing process to dry and eventually cure seal coating.
Does DSF contain Latex?
No. Latex is designed to create a dry over skimming effect on seal coat. Latex cannot accelerate
cure time. Also, DSF vulcanizes the film making it even more flexible than latex would make it.
Does DSF contain any hardeners?
No. DSF does not contain any acrylic or brittle polyvinyl resins. DSF rubberizes the seal coat as it
cures where as hardening additives cause the seal coat to become brittle which causes premature
cracking or flaking.
Will DSF control sand roll out and power steering marks?
Yes. Because DSF stabilizes the film through Active Cure Technology, sand roll and power steering
marks are considerably reduced or eliminated.
Will DSF make the film stronger?
Yes. DSF, and Active Cure Technology, creates a consistent and reliable cure time providing
maximum strength within the seal coat film.
How does DSF cause sealer to turn such a deep dark black?
Deep, black color is dependent on the speed of cure time. Because DSF causes the fastest cure
time available on every single job, it also provides the deepest, darkest black color on every single
job.
Why Choose Diamond Shield Fortifier
Until DSF asphalt sealer only cured through the passive curing process the way the sun naturally
cures by its heat and ultra violet rays. The sun dries the top of the film, which creates a barrier that
slows down the dry and cure time for the rest of the film below the top. That is why it is
recommended to wait 24 hours minimum cure time before the film is reintroduced to vehicle traffic.
DSF’s Active Cure Technology creates heat and energy within the film that expels the moisture from
bottom to top. With DSF when the film is dry to touch, all moisture has been expelled and you can
reintroduce vehicle traffic in a much quicker time. No other product on the market does this. Most
“set-fast” products are latex based or contain hardeners. Because latex does not have the
ability to make the sealer cure quicker, there is no comparison to DSF. Latex causes the skim
over drying effect on the surface of the seal coat to happen faster which traps moisture within the
seal coat. This can further extend the time needed for curing to occur because moisture is trapped.
It can take up to seven days to totally cure. Set-fast products that are not a latex product are
hardeners. These products can make the film brittle and cause premature flaking. DSF, on the
other hand, does the same curing work the sun does through Active Cure Technology within the
film. DSF will accelerate the cure time safely on every job.
